After what seemed like the longest day ever, I finally made it to Halifax, Nova Scotia! At 5am I was awake and at the Phoenix airport, and after some slight repacking at the check-in area (to make my bags all under 50lbs) I was boarding my first flight. That flight went great, I slept on and off and chatted with the 3 year-old next to me. Then I landed in Chicago and thought I had an hour to kill...then I realized I had about 20min to find my next plane in a different terminal. After looking around for a while I found the correct shuttle to take me to the Air Canada terminal and when I got to my gate, the plane was already boarding. On that flight I sat next to a woman whose daughter graduated from UA, so obviously we had lots to talk about. Next stop was Montreal. When I got off the plane in Montreal I again only had about 30min to find my next flight, so I start wandering aimlessly around the airport hoping to see a sign that will help. I was a little oblivious to the fact the walked right through baggage claim and didn't pick up my luggage (since when do we have to pick up our checked bags to catch a connecting flight?!)...and didn't notice til after I had passed the 'No re-entering after this point' sign. After talking to a handful of customs agents and getting a little heat as to why I didn't pick up my bags, my bags were brought to me in some secret corridor by an agent. Then I had to run (literally run) up to departures and check-in again (I did get to skip the line because I was running late!) and go through security again and as I jogged down the terminal to my gate I heard that my plane was still just pre-boarding so I made it just in time. On that flight I sat next to a guy who only spoke French..and since I can only count to ten in Frech, our conversation was pretty limited. Then I finally arrived in Halifax grabbed my bags and ran to the airport shuttle (of course while dropping have the stuff in my backpack because I left a pocket open) that was waiting for me to take me to my hotel. I arrived at the Sherton and got my room key, and met up with the girl I am sharing the hotel room with! She had already met some other kids from SAS so a group of 5 of us all went out to dinner. Then later in the night we headed out to a bar a couple blocks away (Tuesday night isn't really a big night out on the town in Halifax). It was really fun but since most of us had arrived that day we were all pretty tired and eventually walked back to the hotel together to get some much needed sleep.
Today we are just exploring Halifax and then tomorrow we board the ship!!!!!! Ahhhh!!!
